History of the Uzbek art cinema begins in1925 when the film studio “Shark Yulduzi” has been created.
In1925-1935 bases, traditions of art cinema have been incorporated.
In its sources had stayed directors N.Ganiev, S.Khodzhaev, E.Khamraev, Y.Ag-zamov, M. Doronin, O.Frejlikh, V.Dobrajanskiy, A.Dori, etc.
Films of this decade “Vtoraya jena”, “Podyem”, “Ramazan”, “Pered rassvetom”, “Shkali Ravata” have told about the major events of Uzbek people of the given decade.
The first sound film “Klyatva” 1936 has opened a way to cinema of actors of the Uzbek theatre.
Within the Second World War it has been created “The Tashkent film studio”, united the Uzbek and evacuated cinematographers of Russia, Belarus, Ukraine. The art director of studio was the known director of cinema of M. I.Romm.
Significant events of steel in post-war years films “Tahir and Zuhra”, “Pohojdeniya Nasreddina” by N.Ganiev and “Alisher Navoi” by K.Yarmatov, brought to the Uzbek cinema wide popularity abroad.
50th years became the period of accumulation of a creative power, time of construction of new studio, for work on which there was a preparation of cinematographers of different trades. And consequently 60th years, when they – new generation, have started to work became years of creative rise of uzbek art cinema, have been created such films as “Ti ne sirota”, “Tashkent – gorod hlebniy” by S.Abbasov, “Nejnost” and “Vlublenniye” by E.Ishmukhamedov, “Jizn proshla nochyu” by U.Nazarov, “Minuvshiye dni” by Y.Agzamov, “Ptichka - nevelichka” by L.Fajziev, “Yabloki 41 goda” by R.Batyrov.
In 70th years the children's cinema successfully develops, release of television movies begins, joint statements with foreign colleagues are carried out and as an example film can serve “Priklucheniya Ali – babi I soroka razboynikov” by directors L.Fajzieva and U.Meera (India), got love of the spectator.
In 80th years in the Uzbek cinema amplify social motives, the most strongly pronounced in films “Klinika” by R.Маликов, “Gorech padeniya” by S.Babayev, “Siz kimsiz?” by J.Fayziev, “Soldatskaya skazka” by Z.Musakov, “Gumm – gum” by S.Davletov.
In 1986 it has been created creative union “The Debut”, and in 1987 it became “Studio – 5”, which helps young cinematographers with their first independent steps in cinema.
