Documentary cinema

Chronicle shootings in territory of modern Uzbekistan have begun in 1897 and operators were from France and Russia. The chronicle was removed from second half 20th years on the first Uzbek film studio “Shark Yulduzi” (the Star of the East). The documentary cinema developed successfully and in 1928 the special department of the chronicle at studio, and 1934 independent studio of chronical -documentary films, in 60th years near with “Uzbekfilm” - the studio of feature films had been built studio “Uzkinochronic”.

For ever in history of documentary cinema inserted names of M.Kayumov , P.Pak , S.Zakhidov, A.Saidov, V.Shevchenko, O.Tursunov, Davran Salimov, N.Ataullaeva, B.Muzafarov, S.Makhmudov, S.Egay, etc.

Films “Priyezjaete k nam v Uzbekistan”, “Vstrecha s Tadjihoy”, “Askiya”, “ Tashkent. Zemletreseniye” by M.Kayumov, “Bobo”,”Saraton”, “Hor”, by D.Sali-mov, “Mi ne trudniye”, “Plamya” byS.Makhmudov,“Aralkum” by B.Muzafarov and many others became property of Uzbek people.

The theme of modern documentary cinema of Uzbekistan is rich and various. Films about great ancestors of Uzbek people Behbudi, Chulpan, Fitrat and film portraits of contemporaries.

Created by directors V.Iskhakov and S.Kurbanov on the basis of the book of the president of Uzbekistan I.A.Karimov “Uzbekistan na poroge XXI veka”, films have opened also opportunities of cinema of Uzbekistan, and a modern life in new historical conditions.

The Uzbek documentalists participate in the international film festivals.

So, S.Makhmudova's tape “Oni uchilis v Germanii” has received a prize in Japan and Saint Petsburg.

In capital of Kara-Kalpak Nukus functions independent studio documentary and feature films. Film “Kolodes” has received a prize “Serebranniy medved” in festival of Bilbao in Spain.
